ABOUT DR. LOPINTO
Dr. Lisa LoPinto is a Licensed Psychologist in the state of New York with a Ph.D. in Combined Clinical and School Psychology which she earned from Hofstra University in 1999. Dr. LoPinto started her career as a Behavioral Specialist at a residential treatment facility for mentally ill adults. She then spent more than five years as a School Psychologist on Long Island before working in a clinical setting providing family and individual child/adolescent therapy, and co-leading parent management groups. Dr. LoPinto also spent more than seven years teaching a graduate course in Education on Development of Positive Behavior In Students K-12. In May 2013, Dr. LoPinto became a Certified Provider of Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS), Dr. Ross Greene's Model of understanding and helping children with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. In December 2017, Dr. LoPinto became a Certified Consultant for Lives In The Balance, Dr. Greene's non-profit organization, and provides trainings to school districts and other professionals in using the CPS model. Dr. LoPinto also provides presentations on the CPS model for PTA and SEPTA groups as well as other community and professional organizations across Long Island.
Dr. LoPinto established her independent practice 15 years ago, specializing in the treatment of children and adolescents (ages 2-18) with ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), or behavior/impulse control difficulties, and who may also have generalized anxiety. Dr. LoPinto is committed to developing positive, adaptive behavior in children and adolescents in all areas of their lives.
Dr. LoPinto is trained and experienced in cognitive-behavioral therapy with children and adolescents, and is also familiar with special education law. In addition to her formal training and experience, she also has hands-on experience parenting her own high energy children.
Dr. LoPinto is a member of the following associations: American Psychological Association (APA), New York State Psychological Association (NYSPA), Suffolk County Psychological Association (SCPA), Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT), Long Island - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (LI-CBT) Network, and Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD).
